About This Work

The black KAWS:HOLIDAY Hangzhou robot is a 10-inch vinyl figure documented by DDTStore for the 2026 Hangzhou collection. It translates the robot COMPANION into an upright shelf-scale object. Yellow and Black are separate documented colorways.

Image and Composition

The black finish emphasizes the robot’s outline and rounded volume. Chest controls, joint divisions, and the cross-marked eyes are picked out mainly by changes in relief and reflected light. Compared with yellow, this colorway reads as a quieter arrangement of surfaces, with the same recognizable robot silhouette.

The official photographs show the figure standing with its arms lowered, feet together, and head facing forward. Its helmet-like head, repeated side coils, and articulated-looking limbs give it a different visual rhythm from the softer contours of a conventional COMPANION. Those mechanical-looking details describe the sculpted appearance; they do not establish that any joints move.

Release Context

The release accompanied the Hangzhou chapter of KAWS:HOLIDAY. Gauntlet’s September preview records an announced September 24, 2026 launch at 10 a.m. Hong Kong time. The official DDTStore product record lists vinyl, a height of 10 inches, and HKD 2,500. Its stated delivery window is the end of October 2026, which is separate from the ordering date.

The surrounding collection also includes household objects, but this record is specifically for the standing vinyl figure. The reclining incense holder and other items have different materials, dimensions, and uses. Their specifications should not be substituted for the figure’s own record.

Presentation and Collector Notes

Compare an offered example against the official photographs for this exact colorway. Photograph the visor and eyes, chest panel, side coils, joints, hands, feet, and underside. On yellow, inspect edges and raised details for visible paint loss; on black, use diffuse light to distinguish dust from rubs or glossy wear.

Keep the product title and colorway with the purchase record, along with photographs of any packaging supplied. The reviewed listing does not publish a numerical edition cap or a detailed packaging inventory. Use those gaps as questions for the seller rather than filling them from another Holiday release. The catalog entry records the release and does not indicate current Gauntlet Gallery inventory.
