Release preview · September 21, 2026 · Gauntlet Gallery
The most interesting object in the new KAWS:HOLIDAY Hangzhou collection might be the one lying down. Alongside the robot COMPANION figures, the announced range includes a bronze incense holder, a Chinese tea cup set, a ceramic mug and cotton apparel. The incense holder brings the character off the display shelf and into the home in a particularly compact form. View the announced collection at DDTStore.
Our eye goes first to the household pieces. They give collectors a different way to live with the familiar X-eyed character: beside a reading chair, on a tea table or among objects used every day. The appeal is as much about where an object fits as which release it belongs to.
This is a preview of the upcoming drop, with details checked on September 21. It is not a hands-on review or an announcement of Hangzhou stock at Gauntlet Gallery.
When does KAWS HOLIDAY Hangzhou release?
The announced online launch through DDTStore is September 24, 2026 at 10 a.m. Hong Kong time (UTC+8). For US collectors, that is September 23 at 10 p.m. Eastern or 7 p.m. Pacific. A WESTLAKE 66 pop-up opens September 24 at 2 p.m. local time and runs through October 7. Release announcement, Hypebeast.
The project centers on a 30-metre reclining robot COMPANION scheduled for West Lake in Hangzhou, September 24–27. That monumental installation provides the setting for the smaller objects in the collection. Installation details.
Ordering and delivery are separate dates. The official product listings currently give an end-of-October 2026 delivery window. Check the individual listing again before ordering; a release-day purchase should not be read as a promise of immediate arrival. DDTStore figure listing.

The bronze incense holder deserves a closer look
DDTStore lists the KAWS:HOLIDAY Hangzhou Incense Holder at 33 mm high, 140 mm wide and 70 mm deep. It comes in a wooden box, and incense sticks are not included. Its cool, silver-colored appearance in the official photograph should not be confused with its material: the listing specifies bronze. Official incense holder specifications and photographs.
Visually, the reclining pose does much of the work. The body stretches across a surface while the face tilts upward; the robot detailing makes a small object worth looking at closely. It is easy to imagine it holding its own on a low shelf without needing the height or visual space of an upright figure.
For us, that makes it the standout design in the group. Decide where you would put it before deciding whether to buy it. At 140 mm wide, it is a small tabletop object; photographs without a familiar reference can make collectibles appear much larger than they are.
If you intend to use it, follow the manufacturer's supplied instructions rather than treating an editorial image as a demonstration of incense placement or operation. This article has not tested its use.
The tea set brings KAWS to the table
The Chinese Tea Cup Set combines a ceramic gaiwan and cups with a wooden tray. The official tray dimensions are 280 × 157 × 40 mm, giving a useful starting point for checking how much room the set would occupy. Official tea set listing.
The product photography shows a restrained white-and-pale-blue palette against warm wood. The character motifs are small enough that the overall composition still reads as a tea service. That is what makes this piece interesting to us: the design rewards a closer look without requiring the entire table to become a display.
A set also changes the buying question. You are choosing several pieces that work together, rather than a single silhouette. Think about whether you want the whole arrangement visible, whether you have suitable storage, and whether the appeal survives once the release-day excitement passes.
The robot COMPANION remains the shelf piece
For collectors drawn primarily to figures, the yellow and black versions share the same listed height and price. DDTStore specifies vinyl construction and a certified NFC authenticity chip for each. Yellow figure and black figure.
Our preference would depend on the surrounding collection. Yellow makes a more immediate visual statement among neutral objects. Black is the quieter option if the intention is to study the silhouette. Neither choice needs a resale argument to make sense; the better question is which one you would still want to see every morning.
The NFC specification belongs to the figure listings. Do not assume the incense holder, mug or tea set includes the same feature: their product descriptions reviewed for this article do not make that claim.
The mug and apparel offer a smaller commitment
At HKD 350, the ceramic mug has the lowest listed price among the objects covered here. The cotton tee and hoodie sit between the mug and the larger collectible purchases. Their official pages include garment measurements, which are more useful than relying on the letters M or L alone. Mug, tee and hoodie.
These are worth considering on their own terms. A mug you reach for regularly can be a satisfying purchase. A garment that does not fit is still a garment that does not fit, however desirable the artwork on it might be.
Before placing an order
- Choose the object first. Decide whether you want a figure, a tabletop piece or something to wear before the launch opens.
- Check the complete checkout total. Keep currency, shipping and any applicable import charges in view.
- Read the seller's terms. DDTStore's reviewed listings state no refund or exchange. Those are DDTStore's terms for this release, not a statement of Gauntlet Gallery's return policy. Seller terms on the mug listing.
- Keep the documentation. Save the order confirmation and exact product description, particularly if you later pass the piece to another collector.
- Separate facts from scarcity language. We have not verified a numerical edition size for these items. Do not turn “limited” into an assumed production count.
