Crossed Wave
Summary
Crossed Wave is a 2017 hand-pulled three-color screen print in black, grey and coral on 100% cotton Somerset satin 410gsm, hand-deckled by the artists. Large at 100 x 100 cm (39.4 x 39.4 inches) in an edition of just 40, it is signed, numbered and stamped, pairing restrained color with imposing scale.
Why It Matters
The combination of a meter-square format and an edition of only 40 makes Crossed Wave one of the scarcer, most impactful works in this group. Its restrained three-color palette on heavyweight 410gsm stock lets the crossed-wave composition dominate through scale and line rather than color complexity.
Collector Perspective
At 100 x 100 cm with just 40 impressions, this is a scarce statement piece. Large works demand careful framing and edge care, so intact deckled edges and clean margins are priorities. The signed, numbered, and stamped front anchors provenance, which is especially important at this low edition size.
Historical Context
Crossed Wave brings together the duo's crossing-line and wave motifs at monumental scale. Produced in 2017 on the heaviest 410gsm Somerset stock, it belongs to the run of large-format editions Kai & Sunny reserved for their most ambitious compositions.
