Summary

Curved By Tension is a 2017 hand-pulled five-color screen print on 100% cotton Somerset satin 310gsm, hand-deckled by the artists. Square at 57 x 57 cm (22.5 x 22.5 inches) in an edition of 100, it is signed, numbered and stamped, its title evoking the taut, force-shaped linework at the heart of the composition.

Why It Matters

The title captures a core idea in Kai & Sunny's practice: line and form shaped by unseen forces. Curved By Tension renders that concept in their standard 57 x 57 cm square with a clean five-color build, making it a clear example of the duo's 2017 print language on premium Somerset stock.

Collector Perspective

An edition of 100 in a display-friendly square keeps this within an accessible collecting range. Value hinges on condition, registration quality, and an intact deckled edge. The signed, numbered, and stamped front provides the standard provenance trail collectors should verify before acquiring.

Historical Context

Tension, force, and directional energy recur throughout Kai & Sunny's output, from Downward Force to Rise And Fall. Curved By Tension (2017) is an earlier expression of that thematic thread, produced on the Somerset satin the duo consistently used for their square editions.

They are known for intricate, hand-drawn line work exploring nature, patterns, and the forces of the natural world, often rendered as flowing, wind-swept compositions. Their editions are published in tightly controlled runs and have been exhibited internationally.
