Summary

H14-6 Resolution belongs to Damien Hirst's 2024 H14 timed-edition series published by HENI. It is a laminated Giclee print on aluminium composite panel measuring 120 x 93 cm. As a timed edition, its run size was fixed by collector demand within a set window rather than by an advance cap, in line with HENI's demand-based release approach.

Why It Matters

Resolution sits sixth in the H14 virtue sequence, a title suggesting resolve and closure. The laminated aluminium panel gives the work a rigid, contemporary finish at a substantial 120 x 93 cm scale. Its concept-forward title fits the reflective character of the series, appealing to collectors who value the thematic through-line of Hirst's HENI editions.

Collector Perspective

The population of Resolution impressions was set by its timed-release demand, so launch interest shaped its scarcity. Collectors are drawn to the durable aluminium composite support and clean large-format presentation. As one of eight thematically linked titles, Resolution is a natural target for those building the complete H14 series.

Historical Context

The timed-edition format Hirst developed with HENI on The Currency lets demand determine a release's size. H14 carries that model into large panel prints. The abstract virtue titling reflects Hirst's persistent engagement with meaning and belief, a concern woven through his spot paintings, butterflies and blossom works alike.

About the Artist

Damien Hirst (born 1965, Bristol) is a British artist and the most prominent figure of the Young British Artists (YBAs). Rising to fame in the late 1980s and 1990s, he built a practice around mortality, science, religion, and beauty — from formaldehyde-preserved animals to his Spot, Spin, and Butterfly (Kaleidoscope) series. Hirst is also one of the most prolific printmakers in contemporary art, releasing extensive signed editions through his own science-led studio and, more recently, the HENI imprint. His work has commanded record prices and defined the market for blue-chip contemporary editions.

Collecting Damien Hirst at Gauntlet Gallery

Which Damien Hirst prints should I collect?

Signed, numbered editions from his signature series — Spots, Butterflies/Kaleidoscope, Spins, Cherry Blossoms, and skull works — are the collectible core. Look for strong condition and the artist's pencil signature. Gauntlet Gallery prioritizes complete, well-documented impressions.

How is a Hirst print authenticated?

We sell Hirst works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering; many carry HENI or studio documentation. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details.

What drives value?

Series and image (iconic Spots and Butterflies lead), edition size, format and scale, condition, and provenance all drive value. Hand-signed, low-numbered, and diamond-dust or foilblock works command premiums.
