The Work
Presidential Seal reworks one of the most recognizable emblems of American power into a Shepard Fairey meditation on authority and skepticism. Rendered in a commanding red, the eagle, shield, and radiating motifs are unmistakable, yet Fairey's ornamental reinterpretation drains the seal of its official solemnity and reframes it as another piece of manufactured iconography. The familiar becomes suspect under his hand.
Fairey has spent his career interrogating the symbols institutions use to command obedience, and the presidential seal is among the most potent. By appropriating it, he prompts the viewer to ask who wields power, how that power is dressed up in ceremony, and whether the images of the state deserve the deference they demand. The red palette heightens the sense of urgency and warning.

We photograph each print under consistent lighting to show the actual paper, frame condition, ink saturation, and any aging or edge wear. How is the print packed and shipped?
Prints ship flat between two acid-free rigid boards inside a corrugated outer mailer with rigid corner protection. Larger prints over 24×30 may ship rolled inside a thick-walled tube with archival tissue. All shipments are insured for full value with tracked carrier service. Framed pieces ship in custom-cut wood crates with foam edge protection. Signature on delivery required over $500.
