The Work

Two Americas is Shepard Fairey's large-scale reflection on the fractures running through the national character, a theme that grew especially urgent in the charged climate of 2016. The composition sets contrasting visions against one another, using his commanding graphic style to make the divide impossible to ignore. At a full 30 by 40 inches, the print carries the presence of a public statement.

Fairey confronts the gap between the country's stated ideals and its lived contradictions, a tension he has probed throughout his career. The imagery refuses easy resolution, instead holding the two Americas in uneasy proximity and leaving the viewer to reckon with the distance between them. It stands among his more ambitious serigraphs, both in scale and in argument.

This impression measures 30 by 40 inches and is hand-signed and numbered in pencil by Shepard Fairey, from an edition of 100.
