Storing and Displaying BE@RBRICK Figures: Condition Preservation Guide

BE@RBRICK figures in mint, unopened condition with intact original packaging command meaningfully higher prices than the same figure displayed or missing packaging. The condition premium is measurable across all major secondary market platforms. Proper display and storage preserves both the aesthetic and financial value of a collection.

The Mint-in-Box Premium

For investment-grade BE@RBRICK pieces, mint-in-box (MIB) is the highest-value state. The packaging — which for collaboration releases often includes co-branded boxes from the collaborating brand — is itself part of the collectible. Damaged or missing packaging on a $1,000+ collaboration figure can reduce secondary market value by 15–30%.

Display Without Removing from Box

Many collectors display 1000% figures without removing them from packaging. The large format makes this practical — the figure is visible through the box window. For 400% and smaller formats, the display option is more limited and many collectors remove figures for display while retaining original packaging separately.

UV and Environmental Controls

Same principles as KAWS figures: UV-filtering display cases for any figure intended for long-term display, stable temperature (65–75F), moderate humidity (45–55%), away from direct light. The ABS plastic and vinyl materials in BE@RBRICK figures are susceptible to yellowing under sustained UV exposure.

Handling

Clean, dry hands or cotton gloves for handling figures outside packaging. The articulated joints in 1000% figures are robust but should be moved carefully — joint stress can cause finish cracking at paint boundaries over time.
