An impressive large-format Farquhar Transparent Celestial Globe (Farquhar Transparent Globes, Philadelphia, PA) — the deluxe 18-inch version of this iconic mid-century instrument. A clear acrylic star globe houses a printed terrestrial Earth globe suspended at its center, encircled by a graduated horizon / meridian ring for celestial navigation. The transparent sphere maps the full celestial sphere: constellations, named stars with light-year distances, the ecliptic and months of the year, and the Milky Way. A genuine piece of astronomy and navigation history and a commanding decorative statement.
