Work Summary & Collector Notes

I’m very sad that Black Sabbath, one of the greatest bands of all time, is currently on their final tour ever. However, I was very happy when the band asked me to create a tee shirt and poster design for their “The End” tour. I got to see Sabbath with my wife and daughter Vivienne at the Forum in L.A. last week, as always, the band was amazing! I’ve seen Sabbath about a dozen times, and they’ve never been less than awesome. I’m glad my daughter was able to experience them. The Black Sabbath “The End” poster comes out next Tuesday in three different color ways, and this may be the last Obey/Black Sabbath collaboration, so pick up a print if you are a fan of either Black Sabbath or Obey, but ESPECIALLY if you are a fan of Black Sabbath AND Obey! If you are in L.A. don’t miss Black Sabbath at the Hollywood Bowl if you can get a ticket! – Shepard The End, Silver Edition. 18 inches by 24 inches screen print on cream Speckle Tone paper. Numbered edition of 325. Signed by Shepard Fairey. $50 each. Avail. Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 10AM PST on ObeyGiant.com in Prints.

Documented History and Meaning

History note: Shepard Fairey's OBEY / Andre the Giant campaign began in 1989 and grew into a long print and public-art practice; this page treats that as career context, not proof that this specific edition belongs to any single exhibition.

Meaning / interpretation: Fairey's practice combines propaganda-style imagery, political and countercultural themes, and a recurring OBEY vocabulary. Subject-specific intent is not assumed here unless the release record states it. This interpretive note follows the cited artist or publisher context.

Release context: The saved catalog lists 2016 and attributes the edition to Obey Giant.
