Inspiration4 Full Crew-Signed vs. Individual Signatures: Pricing and Strategy

Inspiration4 launched September 15, 2021 — the first all-civilian orbital spaceflight in history, funded entirely by Jared Isaacman. The four-person crew carried no professional NASA or military astronauts. They orbited at approximately 590 km for three days. Every item signed by this crew represents a category that did not exist before 2021: certified civilian orbital memorabilia.

The Four-Signature Premium: What the Data Shows

In analogous historical markets, full crew-signed Apollo items trade at 2.5–4x the value of individual crew signatures from the same mission. A full Apollo 11 crew-signed item (Armstrong, Aldrin, Collins) trades at $15,000–$40,000 — roughly 3x what an Armstrong single alone commands. Inspiration4's four-member crew creates a similar multiplication dynamic, and the all-civilian composition adds an additional scarcity premium because none of the four have NASA institutional signing programs.

Pricing Matrix

Item Format Signatures Auth Price Range
Full crew 8x10 (all 4) Isaacman, Arceneaux, Proctor, Sembroski JSA/BAS $600–$1,800
Isaacman individual Commander JSA/BAS $300–$800
Arceneaux individual Youngest American in space JSA/BAS $150–$400
Sian Proctor individual First Black woman to pilot a spacecraft JSA/BAS $150–$350
Chris Sembroski individual Mission Specialist JSA/BAS $125–$300
Mission patch full crew signed All 4 JSA/BAS $500–$1,200

Collector Strategy: Individual vs. Full Crew

If budget is constrained: Prioritize an Isaacman-Arceneaux dual-signed piece. Isaacman has multi-mission commander status; Arceneaux holds a permanent record (youngest American in space at time of flight). This two-signature combination is the highest signal-to-cost option in the Inspiration4 set.

If building a primary commercial space holding: The full crew 8x10 is the correct anchor. As signing events become rarer and the crew's schedules diverge, authenticated full-crew pieces will become significantly harder to source. Gauntlet Gallery actively sources and verifies these.
