Looking at a BE@RBRICK “box 23,” “box 50,” or the newest release? The number identifies the series: a particular assortment of Medicom Toy’s small 100% figures. A Series 23 blind box belongs to a different lineup from a Series 50 blind box. The number does not describe the figure’s size or the number of pieces inside.
This single-page guide covers every numbered main series from 1 to 52, newest first. Each entry lists the regular lineup, documented secret or chase examples, and our comparison with nearby releases. It covers the main numbered series; separate BAPE assortments, themed CHASE releases, event exclusives and standalone 400% / 1000% collaborations have their own release structures.
How many figures come in a box?
| Seller’s term | What it usually means | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Single blind box | One randomly concealed 100% figure, approximately 70 mm tall, normally supplied with its matching character card. | Whether the box and inner bag are unopened, and whether the card is included. |
| Display box / sealed case | The familiar main-series retail display contains 24 individual blind boxes. Series 52 is explicitly sold this way by Medicom; historical Series 23 is also documented as 24 pieces. | A listing using a case photo may still sell only one individual blind box. Read its quantity and selected option. |
| Master carton | A shipping carton containing multiple retail displays. It is a different unit from a 24-piece display. | Ask for the number of displays and total individual boxes; do not assume a universal carton count across releases. |
| Regular set / confirmed set | A seller-assembled selection of identified figures. | Which figures, Basic letters and variants it includes. A set may have opened outer boxes or inner bags. |
Twenty-four boxes do not mean twenty-four different designs or a complete series. Duplicates and missing designs are possible; a case is not a promise of every secret. The historical Series 23 listing expressly says one box does not necessarily contain all types. Hobby Search Series 23 specification
The 24-box format is the practical reference for shopping the main series, rather than a guarantee about every surviving vintage package. For older stock, confirm the original display size, seals and actual quantity with the seller. Each series entry below refers to individual 100% figures, not a pack of nine figures hidden in one box.
Regular figures, Basic letters and mystery pieces
- Regular / advertised: designs shown in the main lineup. “Regular” does not mean equally common.
- Basic: the letter-bearing designs spelling BE@RBRICK. Listings sometimes group a nine-letter collection into one “Basic set”; that is a collecting or seller-set convention, not nine bears inside one blind box.
- Chase / alternate: a different colour, character or treatment connected to an advertised design. Retailers may call it a secret, variant or “ura.”
- Secret: an unadvertised pull or special guest. Some series include a non-bear KUBRICK or related platform as a surprise.
- Release-campaign bonus: a promotional item may be distributed alongside a launch. Its association with a series does not automatically make it a pull from a sealed blind box.
Use the ratios printed for the specific series. For example, Medicom’s Series 51 page gives Basic a combined 14.58% assortment rate and Chupa Chups 2.08%; the Basic percentage is not the probability of each separate letter. There is no single secret ratio that applies to every series and every chase. Official Series 51 assortment rates
How to read the lists: the regular-lineup descriptions group Basic letters and closely related designs to keep the guide readable. The secret lists are documented selections, not exhaustive variant or error registries. Names and secret classifications differ between older collector catalogs. A named secret here is a collecting target, not a guaranteed case inclusion. Comparisons are Gauntlet Gallery’s editorial interpretation of the listed artists and characters.
Which series fits your collection?
| Collecting interest | Series to compare | Why these belong on the shortlist |
|---|---|---|
| Newest characters | 52 and 51 | He-Man, Supergirl and Derpy Tiger versus Wicked, G.I. Joe and Tamagotchi. |
| Music | 51, 50, 29, 21 | Iron Maiden; hide and Bring Me the Horizon; Sex Pistols and Grateful Dead; Daft Punk and The Prodigy. |
| Artist-led figures | 47, 44, 31, 27, 15 | Jackson Pollock; Basquiat and Kenny Scharf; Yusuke Hanai; D*Face; Andy Warhol. |
| Early streetwear and artist history | 6, 5, 4 | Pushead and Kozik; FUTURA; KAWS and Santa Inoue. Compare exact figure, card and condition. |
| Games and animation | 48, 46, 32, 23 | PlayStation; Sonic and Street Fighter; One-Punch Man; Sonic, Rilakkuma and Real Steel. |
If you want one particular character, compare the price of an identified single with the total cost of opening boxes. If you enjoy the assortment itself, a sealed display offers the opening experience. Older is not automatically better: the artists, included figures, original packaging and condition should drive the comparison.

Before buying a vintage box or loose figure
- Confirm the unit: single box, full 24-piece display, master carton or identified set.
- Match the figure: series number, character, colourway, card and original packaging should agree. A retailer’s image alone may show a representative sample.
- Check condition: ask for close-ups of paint, joints, feet and any clear or flocked surfaces. Old packaging and long storage can leave wear even on an unopened item.
- Check what “sealed” means: an opened cardboard box with a sealed foil bag is different from a factory-sealed retail display.
- Separate the goals: a complete Basic word, regular character set and full secret checklist are three different collecting projects.
Continue with the BE@RBRICK buyer’s guide and BE@RBRICK authentication guide before comparing a specific purchase.
Sources and update notes
This guide was compiled from Medicom Toy’s current product pages and series archives, the Toysez numbered-series directory, and specialist figure and opened-carton records. Older Medicom pages sometimes use image-only or obsolete Flash presentations; retailer names were normalised where a more precise character identification was available. We corrected identifiable catalog discrepancies rather than carrying over seller descriptions verbatim.
Marotom Toy’s carton tables describe cartons that the shop opened and explicitly present those results as reference observations. They are useful for documenting variants, but are not manufacturer-wide odds or a promise about a future case. We have not converted those sample distributions into pull-rate guarantees. Historical release years are provided for orientation; regional retail dates can differ.
Scope: numbered main-series 100% assortments 1–52. The guide is complete in series coverage; its secret examples are selective, and it does not count every letter, colour variant, error, release bonus or unrelated standalone collaboration as a separate main-series design.
