Medicom’s Piet Mondrian announcements offer two clear collecting targets: a 100% and 400% set, and a separate 1000% figure. You can connect them through the artist reference while keeping the original purchase formats distinct.
This is a useful comparison for an artwork-led collection because the choice involves both what you want to acquire and how you want to represent the release in your records.
Read the two original configurations
The mixed-size announcement specifies approximately 70 and 280 mm figures and a ¥14,300 tax-included quote. The 1000% announcement specifies approximately 700 mm and a ¥63,800 tax-included quote.
Both carry October 2021 planned release wording and reference the Akashic Records 2021 event. Those facts connect the announcements. They do not make the 1000% a third component included in the smaller set.
| Target | Documented original format |
|---|---|
| Piet Mondrian 100% and 400% | Mixed-size set |
| Piet Mondrian 1000% | Separate large figure |
Open the set detail and 1000% detail in the BE@RBRICK Master Index before adding them to a wishlist. A search under the artist’s name can include both, so the result title still needs reading.
Decide whether you are collecting a format or a reference
If the artist reference is your priority, either target can fit the brief. If your collection follows a consistent nominal size, the format becomes a firmer boundary. Write that preference before comparing seller offers; it prevents a tempting amount from changing what you intended to collect without notice.
For the mixed-size set, decide whether you require both components. A single larger figure on the secondary market can be a valid personal choice, but it should be recorded as part of the documented set rather than as evidence of a separately announced 400% release.
For the 1000%, use the source’s approximate physical height as a starting point for measuring a display location. The percentage label alone does not tell you the shelf clearance, usable surface area, or packaging space required. Obtain the actual item and packaging measurements from the seller before arranging a tight installation.
Keep the graphic discussion specific
The official announcements introduce a composition of red, yellow, blue, and black. Use their photographs to compare the product treatment you want. Do not assign a more specific original painting title unless a reliable source identifies that work for the release.
The same restraint applies to edition language. An event association and limited-sale wording do not disclose a numerical production count. You can collect the release because its design suits your interests without presenting scarcity as an established fact.
Record the original quote with its complete purchase unit. Dividing the set amount between its sizes would create your own allocation, and comparing that allocation with the 1000% quote would not reveal an official component price.
The Mondrian records make a clean starting point for a format decision. Preserve the artwork association, choose the configuration you actually want, and keep the manufacturer’s source attached to that choice.
