Chogokin Haring and Basquiat BE@RBRICKs: use the named format

October 18, 2026

The Chogokin Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat BE@RBRICK announcements identify their format as 超合金 and give an approximate height of 145 mm. A collector does not need to invent a percentage label to make these records usable.

The named format and stated dimensions are the stronger reference. Preserve them when a search result or seller title omits the familiar 100%, 400%, or 1000% language.

Follow the specification the source actually gives

Medicom’s Haring announcement and Basquiat announcement each quote ¥12,000 before tax and carry January 2019 planned release wording. Both state approximately 145 mm height.

Their specifications describe die-cast body parts with an exception for internal joint parts. They also describe ratcheted joints and embossed back logos. Those are source-specific construction details, rather than a reason to assign every Chogokin-related product the same complete specification.

Keep a missing percentage useful

If the BE@RBRICK Master Index does not provide a percentage size for one of these records, use the full title and source dimensions instead. An empty nominal-size field should not make an identified format disappear from your research.

Open the Haring detail or the Basquiat detail, then keep the Chogokin wording in your seller queries. “Haring BE@RBRICK” can cross into other formats; adding the named format narrows the intended target.

Do not divide 145 mm by a familiar size and present the result as an official percentage designation. Arithmetic can produce a ratio, but only the manufacturer’s supported naming can establish the product’s nominal label.

Compare construction claims at the right level

The internal-joint exception matters. “Every part is metal” would be broader than the source specification. Preserve the qualification if you describe the construction in a caption or listing.

Likewise, the existence of ratcheted joints does not supply a safe disassembly or maintenance procedure. A purchase comparison can record the named construction without making unsupported care recommendations.

For a collection organized by artist, these releases can sit within a Chogokin subgroup beside other Haring or Basquiat references. For a format-led collection, the two artist names can become the comparison targets. Keep those two organizing fields separate.

Ask a seller for actual-item and packaging photographs that identify the named format. Compare the offer with the corresponding source rather than expecting a generic percentage-size guide to describe every feature.

These records demonstrate a useful principle for unusual formats: accept the specificity the manufacturer gives. The named format, approximate dimensions, and qualified construction statement are enough to document the release accurately without adding a size category the source never supplied.
