Summary

"Scooter" is a 2015 offset lithograph by Invader, published by HOCA on archival paper at 40 x 60 cm in a hand-signed, numbered edition of 88. The horizontal composition and lithographic process set it apart from the artist's square silkscreens, offering a wider pictorial field for his pixelated subject in the Hong Kong series.

Why It Matters

With 88 impressions, "Scooter" is a slightly more available HOCA edition, and its lithographic medium distinguishes it within Invader's largely screenprint-based catalogue. It documents the diversity of print processes the artist explored during his Hong Kong period, giving collectors a medium-specific reference point among the 2015 releases.

Collector Perspective

Buyers note the horizontal 40 x 60 cm format, unusual against Invader's typical squares, and the offset process, which lends flat, even colour. The edition of 88 is larger than the screenprints in the same series, so it tends to circulate more. Sharp registration, clean margins and an intact hand-signature are the details collectors examine on the sheet.

Historical Context

Invader's mid-2010s collaboration with HOCA generated a cluster of editions tied to his Hong Kong invasions. "Scooter" reflects that campaign while broadening the artist's technical range beyond silkscreen. The subject connects his pixel aesthetic, rooted in early arcade graphics, to everyday urban imagery of the kind he layered into his street mosaics.

About the Artist

Invader (born 1969, France) is a pseudonymous French urban artist known for installing mosaic works inspired by 1970s-80s arcade video games, most famously the aliens from Space Invaders. Since the late 1990s he has "invaded" cities worldwide, cementing tile mosaics onto walls and mapping each installation as part of a global game. His studio output extends the pixel aesthetic into prints, "Rubikcubism" works made from Rubik's Cubes, aluminum pieces, and alias-signed editions. He remains anonymous, appearing publicly only masked.

How is an Invader piece authenticated?

We sell Invader works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details, so you can verify before buying.

What drives value?

Medium (unique Rubikcubism and aluminum works over open prints), edition size, iconic imagery, condition, and provenance all shape price. Hand-made and low-numbered pieces command the strongest premiums.
