Summary

"Les Toits du Palace" is a 2014 six-colour silkscreen by Invader on 260gsm off-white art paper, published by La Souris Déglinguée at 50 x 50 cm in a numbered, signed edition of 75. The image derives from the album cover Invader created for the French band's new record, uniting his visual practice with a music release.

Why It Matters

This print documents a direct collaboration between Invader and the veteran French band La Souris Déglinguée, originating as album-cover art. The six-colour process and edition of 75 make it a substantive production, and its music-world provenance sets it apart from gallery- and self-published editions, appealing to collectors interested in the artist's cross-disciplinary projects.

Collector Perspective

Collectors value the album-cover origin story, the rich six-colour printing, and the square 50 x 50 cm format on heavy off-white stock. The edition of 75 keeps it reasonably scarce. Because the design ties to a specific record, it carries a documented backstory that enriches provenance; signature, numbering and paper condition remain the key evaluation points.

Historical Context

La Souris Déglinguée is a long-running French rock band, and Invader designed the cover for one of their albums, later issuing this silkscreen from that artwork. The collaboration reflects the artist's engagement with French music culture and extends his pixel-mosaic vocabulary into commercial record design, a lineage familiar from earlier street artists working with musicians.

About the Artist

Invader (born 1969, France) is a pseudonymous French urban artist known for installing mosaic works inspired by 1970s-80s arcade video games, most famously the aliens from Space Invaders. Since the late 1990s he has "invaded" cities worldwide, cementing tile mosaics onto walls and mapping each installation as part of a global game. His studio output extends the pixel aesthetic into prints, "Rubikcubism" works made from Rubik's Cubes, aluminum pieces, and alias-signed editions. He remains anonymous, appearing publicly only masked.

Collecting Invader at Gauntlet Gallery

What Invader works can I collect?

Beyond street mosaics, Invader releases signed, numbered editions — screenprints, giclées, aluminum and Rubikcubism works — plus his "Invasion Kits." Signed and numbered studio editions are the collectible core. Gauntlet Gallery focuses on complete, well-preserved impressions with documentation.

How is an Invader piece authenticated?

We sell Invader works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details, so you can verify before buying.

What drives value?

Medium (unique Rubikcubism and aluminum works over open prints), edition size, iconic imagery, condition, and provenance all shape price. Hand-made and low-numbered pieces command the strongest premiums.
