Invaded Cube (Timed Edition)
Summary
Invaded Cube (2023) is a HENI timed edition rendered as a Diasec-mounted giclée on aluminium composite panel, a substantial 100 x 100 cm and weighing 13.5 kg. Numbered and hand-signed on the label, it brings Invader's Rubik-derived cube imagery into a large, gallery-weight panel format.
Why It Matters
The square 100 x 100 cm panel and glossy Diasec surface give this edition a heavyweight object presence rare in print collecting. It represents Invader's Rubik Cubism ideas at architectural scale, where the pixelated cube face becomes a monumental, wall-dominating composition.
Collector Perspective
As a timed edition, the run of 459 was set by demand during the sales window. The label signature and numbering are the authentication anchors. At 13.5 kg the panel requires proper wall mounting and careful transport, factors collectors should plan for given the aluminium composite construction.
Historical Context
Released in 2023 through HENI Editions, Invaded Cube belongs to Invader's broader engagement with the Rubik's Cube as a pixel-native grid. That Rubik Cubism strand, which he has pursued in mosaics and canvases, treats the toy's coloured squares as a ready-made palette for reconstructing familiar images.

About the Artist
Invader (born 1969, France) is a pseudonymous French urban artist known for installing mosaic works inspired by 1970s-80s arcade video games, most famously the aliens from Space Invaders. Since the late 1990s he has "invaded" cities worldwide, cementing tile mosaics onto walls and mapping each installation as part of a global game. His studio output extends the pixel aesthetic into prints, "Rubikcubism" works made from Rubik's Cubes, aluminum pieces, and alias-signed editions. He remains anonymous, appearing publicly only masked.
Collecting Invader at Gauntlet Gallery
What Invader works can I collect?
Beyond street mosaics, Invader releases signed, numbered editions — screenprints, giclées, aluminum and Rubikcubism works — plus his "Invasion Kits." Signed and numbered studio editions are the collectible core. Gauntlet Gallery focuses on complete, well-preserved impressions with documentation.
How is an Invader piece authenticated?
We sell Invader works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details, so you can verify before buying.
What drives value?
Medium (unique Rubikcubism and aluminum works over open prints), edition size, iconic imagery, condition, and provenance all shape price. Hand-made and low-numbered pieces command the strongest premiums.
