Garfield BE@RBRICKs: standard, Gold Chrome, or Flocky

October 18, 2026

Garfield BE@RBRICKs provide a clear example of one character appearing under different treatment names and original purchase formats. The standard 400%, Gold Chrome set, and Flocky set should remain separate targets in a character collection.

The shared character makes them easy to group. The complete title and configuration make them possible to compare accurately.

Three announcements, two format types

Medicom’s Garfield 400% announcement specifies a standalone approximately 280 mm figure, December 2018 planned release/shipping wording, and a ¥8,800 before-tax quote.

The Gold Chrome announcement specifies a 100% and 400% set with July 2022 planned release/shipping wording. The Flocky announcement specifies the same mixed-size format with April 2023 wording. Each of those sets is quoted at ¥14,300 including tax.

Reference Original announced configuration
Garfield 400% Standalone larger figure
Garfield Gold Chrome 100% and 400% set
Garfield Flocky 100% and 400% set

The comparison therefore changes both treatment and, in the first case, purchase unit. A larger bear photographed alone may not tell you which original configuration it came from.

Treat the finish name as an identifier

Keep “Gold Chrome” attached to the specific record, and “Flocky” attached to its own record. Use the standard 400% reference separately in the BE@RBRICK Master Index.

Gold Chrome wording identifies the named treatment. It does not establish that the object is solid gold or supply a composition specification for every component. Flocky wording likewise should not be expanded into a particular care method without appropriate evidence.

For the visual choice, inspect official product images and actual-item photographs. A seller’s lighting can change the apparent appearance of a surface, so retain the version evidence rather than making the product identity depend on one cropped image.

Decide whether completion means versions or contents

You can collect one Garfield treatment you like, one larger component from each reference, or complete original configurations. Write the rule. “Three Garfield releases” and “three physical Garfield figures” may describe different collecting outcomes.

If your rule is complete sets, confirm that both sizes accompany Gold Chrome and Flocky offers. If you accept loose larger components, document their parent release rather than creating an imaginary separately announced product in your inventory.

The two identical original set quotes do not establish identical current market demand. The standard 400% quote also excludes tax, so its raw number should not be compared with the tax-included set amounts as though all three describe the same transaction.

Use the historical facts to identify the products, then compare current seller contents and condition separately. A character-led collection does not need a speculative market ranking to make sense.

Garfield supplies the common thread. Preserving the treatment, nominal size, and original unit gives each acquisition a useful identity beyond the character’s name.
