Work Summary & Collector Notes

Take (Pink) is one of three colorways of KAWS's Take, a 2020 open edition vinyl produced through the KAWSONE webshop and standing 13.4 inches tall. The figure depicts a pink BFF — the shaggy character introduced in 2016 — cradling a small grey Companion in its arms, the exact inverse of the grey Share figure, in which a grey Companion holds a pink BFF. The composition originated in KAWS's BLACKOUT exhibition at Skarstedt, London in late 2019. Released June 9, 2020 at $360 retail alongside the black and blue versions, it is an unnumbered open edition with a portion of proceeds directed to Black Lives Matter and Color of Change.

Collector notes: Legacy catalog label: Open Edition; total quantity was not documented in the saved record. Edition-specific signature, numbering, and stamp details were not stated in the saved release record. Verify signing and numbering against a documented example of this edition.

Why It Matters

The pink Take is the colorway most closely tied to BFF's identity — pink is the character's signature tone, first seen in the 2016 pink BFF plush and vinyl. Paired with the grey Companion, it completes a two-way conversation with the grey Share figure: each release holds the other's character. That mirrored logic across two drops in the same year is a deliberate piece of series-building, and collectors who assemble both figures own the full exchange.

Collector Perspective

Demand centers on BFF collectors and buyers pairing it with the grey Share. Condition and complete packaging drive the spread more than colorway here.

FAQ

What does Take (Pink) depict?

A pink BFF character carrying a small grey Companion doll in its arms. It mirrors the grey Share figure released earlier in 2020, in which the grey Companion holds a pink BFF.

What is the edition size of Take (Pink)?

It is an unnumbered open edition. KAWS did not publish a production quantity, and the figures are not numbered — quantity was set by demand during the KAWSONE ordering window.

Is Take (Pink) signed?

No. KAWS open editions are not individually signed. Authentic pieces are identified by molded copyright and production stamps on the underside of the feet.

How concerned should I be about fakes?

Very — KAWS vinyls are among the most counterfeited collectibles on the market. Verify foot stamps, paint quality at the eyes, and box printing, and buy from an established dealer who stands behind authenticity.

Why does the pink Take appear less often on the resale market?

Public sale records for the pink colorway are far scarcer than for the black — our dataset shows 2 recorded sales versus 131. Fewer owners appear willing to relist it, so examples surface irregularly and pricing varies listing to listing.
