Summary

Invasion Kit #12 (Home), 2010, is a self-assembly ceramic mosaic of 80 tiles measuring 7.9 x 6.3 inches, issued via Space Shop in a numbered edition of 150. It renders the classic 'space invader and its planet' motif as a build-your-own object for the collector to install.

Why It Matters

The Home kit distills Invader's core imagery, a lone invader with its planet, into participatory form. By handing the collector 80 loose tiles, the artist converts his invasion metaphor into a domestic act: the buyer literally brings the invasion home, mirroring the piece's title and the artist's spread-the-invasion ethos.

Collector Perspective

Numbered to 150, this kit sits among the more accessible Invasion Kit releases while retaining the appeal of the artist's signature motif. Value tracks completeness and assembly state, sealed, all-tiles-present kits command the most attention. Its larger 80-tile format gives it more visual presence than the smaller kits.

Historical Context

The Invasion Kit line, produced through Space Shop across the late 2000s and 2010, packaged Invader's public-installation practice as home craft. Kit #12 belongs to that continuum, using the elemental invader-and-planet composition that has anchored the artist's work since his earliest street campaigns.

About the Artist

Invader (born 1969, France) is a pseudonymous French urban artist known for installing mosaic works inspired by 1970s-80s arcade video games, most famously the aliens from Space Invaders. Since the late 1990s he has "invaded" cities worldwide, cementing tile mosaics onto walls and mapping each installation as part of a global game. His studio output extends the pixel aesthetic into prints, "Rubikcubism" works made from Rubik's Cubes, aluminum pieces, and alias-signed editions. He remains anonymous, appearing publicly only masked.

Collecting Invader at Gauntlet Gallery

What Invader works can I collect?

Beyond street mosaics, Invader releases signed, numbered editions — screenprints, giclées, aluminum and Rubikcubism works — plus his "Invasion Kits." Signed and numbered studio editions are the collectible core. Gauntlet Gallery focuses on complete, well-preserved impressions with documentation.

How is an Invader piece authenticated?

We sell Invader works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details, so you can verify before buying.

What drives value?

Medium (unique Rubikcubism and aluminum works over open prints), edition size, iconic imagery, condition, and provenance all shape price. Hand-made and low-numbered pieces command the strongest premiums.
