Summary

IK For MSF is a 2017 Invasion Kit sculpture edition of just 25, signed and numbered, at 42 x 54 cm. Published through Over The Influence, it was sold by silent auction to benefit Médecins Sans Frontières, making it both a charitable object and one of the smallest, most exclusive Invasion Kit editions the artist has produced.

Why It Matters

At an edition of only 25, IK For MSF is dramatically scarcer than Invader's standard Invasion Kits, which typically run in the hundreds. Its charitable origin, benefiting Médecins Sans Frontières through silent auction, adds a philanthropic dimension and distinctive provenance. This combination of tiny edition size and cause-driven release makes it a standout within the Invasion Kit family.

Collector Perspective

The edition of 25 places IK For MSF among the rarest Invasion Kits, a meaningful distinction for collectors who track the series by scarcity. Its silent-auction charitable provenance for Médecins Sans Frontières gives it a documented, purpose-driven origin. As a signed, numbered tile sculpture at a substantial 42 x 54 cm, it delivers both rarity and physical presence.

Historical Context

Invader has periodically lent his practice to charitable causes, and the 2017 MSF edition channels his Invasion Kit format toward humanitarian fundraising. Released through Over The Influence via silent auction, it reflects the artist's willingness to convert his most collectible object type into a vehicle for supporting Médecins Sans Frontières' medical relief work.

About the Artist

Invader (born 1969, France) is a pseudonymous French urban artist known for installing mosaic works inspired by 1970s-80s arcade video games, most famously the aliens from Space Invaders. Since the late 1990s he has "invaded" cities worldwide, cementing tile mosaics onto walls and mapping each installation as part of a global game. His studio output extends the pixel aesthetic into prints, "Rubikcubism" works made from Rubik's Cubes, aluminum pieces, and alias-signed editions. He remains anonymous, appearing publicly only masked.

Collecting Invader at Gauntlet Gallery

What Invader works can I collect?

Beyond street mosaics, Invader releases signed, numbered editions — screenprints, giclées, aluminum and Rubikcubism works — plus his "Invasion Kits." Signed and numbered studio editions are the collectible core. Gauntlet Gallery focuses on complete, well-preserved impressions with documentation.

How is an Invader piece authenticated?

We sell Invader works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details, so you can verify before buying.

What drives value?

Medium (unique Rubikcubism and aluminum works over open prints), edition size, iconic imagery, condition, and provenance all shape price. Hand-made and low-numbered pieces command the strongest premiums.
