Summary

Art4Space is a 2013 four-color silkscreen on Rives BFK acid-free 100% cotton 250gsm paper, published by Space Shop in an edition of 50 at 40 x 30 cm. The image is drawn from footage of the Space One mosaic's actual ascent, rendered with fine-screen detail and embossing around the frame.

Why It Matters

Art4Space is documentary art: it freezes a still from the video of Invader's mosaic traveling toward space. That direct link to a real event, paired with a tight edition of 50, makes it more than decorative. It records a specific instant in the artist's most conceptually ambitious project.

Collector Perspective

An edition of 50 places this firmly in scarce territory. The cotton Rives BFK stock and surrounding emboss signal a considered production rather than a quick release. Collectors drawn to the Space Program narrative will value its provenance as a captured frame; verify signature and numbering, as these are hand-executed.

Historical Context

Space Shop is Invader's own retail and edition outlet, so Art4Space carries a directly artist-connected pedigree. Issued in 2013, it sits within the cluster of works documenting the Space One launch, complementing the Pictures On Walls Space One prints with an image sourced from the mission itself.

FAQ

What is the image based on?

It is a frame extracted from the film of the Space One mosaic's trip toward space, making it a rare document of that event.

Who published it?

Space Shop, Invader's own edition outlet, released it in 2013 in a signed and numbered run of 50.

What paper is used?

Rives BFK acid-free 100% cotton 250gsm paper, with embossing around the image and a very fine screen.

About the Artist

Invader (born 1969, France) is a pseudonymous French urban artist known for installing mosaic works inspired by 1970s-80s arcade video games, most famously the aliens from Space Invaders. Since the late 1990s he has "invaded" cities worldwide, cementing tile mosaics onto walls and mapping each installation as part of a global game. His studio output extends the pixel aesthetic into prints, "Rubikcubism" works made from Rubik's Cubes, aluminum pieces, and alias-signed editions. He remains anonymous, appearing publicly only masked.

Collecting Invader at Gauntlet Gallery

What Invader works can I collect?

Beyond street mosaics, Invader releases signed, numbered editions — screenprints, giclées, aluminum and Rubikcubism works — plus his "Invasion Kits." Signed and numbered studio editions are the collectible core. Gauntlet Gallery focuses on complete, well-preserved impressions with documentation.

How is an Invader piece authenticated?

We sell Invader works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details, so you can verify before buying.

What drives value?

Medium (unique Rubikcubism and aluminum works over open prints), edition size, iconic imagery, condition, and provenance all shape price. Hand-made and low-numbered pieces command the strongest premiums.
