SHEPARD FAIREY — “POWER & GLORY” LETTERPRESS
2016 • Signed & Numbered • #96/450 • Deckled-Edge Cotton Paper
WHAT YOU ARE GETTING
An authentic Power & Glory letterpress print by street art icon Shepard Fairey (OBEY Giant) — hand-signed in pencil and dated ’16 by the artist, hand-numbered #96 of only 450, with the embossed OBEY publishing chop in the lower left corner. Released February 9, 2016 through the official OBEY store and sold out.
PRINT DETAILS
A signature image from Fairey’s Power & Glory body of work, fusing his propaganda-poster visual language with themes of energy, industry, and environmental power. A blooming lotus erupts from an industrial power station beneath a rising red sun — beauty and nature literally growing out of the machinery of power — flanked by the OBEY star and monogram medallions above the banner reading POWER ⬥ GLORY. The deep letterpress impression on thick deckled cotton gives this print a tactile, fine-press quality that screen prints don’t match.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Shepard Fairey (b. 1970) is one of the most influential street artists of his generation — creator of the OBEY Giant campaign and the 2008 Obama “Hope” poster. His work is held in the permanent collections of MoMA, the Smithsonian, and LACMA.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
