The Work

This print returns to the root of Shepard Fairey's entire visual language: the face of Andre the Giant, the wrestler whose image launched the 'Andre the Giant Has a Posse' sticker campaign in 1989 and eventually mutated into the global OBEY GIANT phenomenon. By framing the icon inside the humble format of a 'Hello My Name Is' name tag, Fairey turns a private joke into a manifesto. The name tag is the most disposable object of introduction, and here it becomes a monument, collapsing the distance between a throwaway sticker and a fine-art edition.

The composition leans on Fairey's signature red, cream, and black palette, with the heavy sans-serif lettering and ornamental borders that give his work its propaganda-poster authority. It is a piece about self-reference and the mythology of the artist's own brand, a wink at how a single stylized face became one of the most recognizable marks in street art. Collectors read it as a keystone image, the piece that names the movement it helped create.
