About This Piece
DEATH NYC — JFK ASTRONAUT / NASA LIMITED EDITION POP ART
Signed • #1/250 • Blue Acrylic Display • Approx. 16” × 12”
A fantastic DEATH NYC interpretation of John F. Kennedy, transforming the president most closely associated with America’s race to the Moon into an astronaut himself.
The work combines several of DEATH NYC’s recurring visual languages—cultural iconography, appropriation, pop imagery and unexpected juxtaposition—into a particularly effective image connecting JFK, NASA and the Space Race.
The portrait depicts Kennedy in a NASA-style spacesuit against a dramatic cosmic composition of deep blue, orange and gold, with Japanese-wave-inspired imagery adding another layer to the composition.

JFK, NASA & THE RACE TO THE MOON
The astronaut imagery has an unusually strong connection to Kennedy.
In 1961, Kennedy challenged the United States to achieve the extraordinary goal of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth before the end of the decade. Eight years later, Apollo 11 accomplished that objective.
DEATH NYC turns that history into pop art: rather than portraying Kennedy simply as the president who championed the lunar program, the artist places JFK inside the mythology he helped create.
The result works simultaneously as contemporary street/pop art and as a visually compelling reference to one of the defining technological achievements of the 20th century.
PRESENTATION
This example is particularly striking because of its custom presentation.
The saturated cobalt-blue acrylic surround complements the NASA and cosmic imagery while the exposed silver standoffs give the piece a clean, modern appearance. At approximately 12” × 16”, it has enough visual presence to stand alone while remaining easy to display in an office, study, library or larger gallery wall.
The piece pairs especially well with collections centered around DEATH NYC, contemporary street art, JFK, NASA, Apollo, American history or Space Race memorabilia.
