DEATH NYC

"Death Is Free" — Beatles Abbey Road × Louis Vuitton × Van Gogh × Mario × Hello Kitty

Hand-Signed, Hand-Numbered Limited Edition Pop Art Print — 2025 — Edition 86/100

What You Are Getting

An authentic, hand-signed Death NYC limited edition print and one of the most layered compositions the artist has released. The Beatles cross Abbey Road in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton monogram suits — three in black LV, John Lennon in white LV — each wearing a small red Hello Kitty bow. Behind them, Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night swirls into a Super Mario Bros. landscape: green warp pipes, the yellow "?" block with a Power Star, and Piranha Plants flanking the crosswalk. The "DEATH IS FREE" graffiti tag drips across the lower-left lane. Hand-numbered 86/100. Pencil-signed and dated 2025 on heavyweight textured fine art paper.

About the Work

The Beatles' August 1969 Abbey Road photograph by Iain Macmillan is arguably the single most-imitated album cover image in music history. Death NYC dresses the Fab Four in Louis Vuitton monogram suits, swaps the Westminster sky for Van Gogh's Starry Night (1889), drops them into the side-scroll of Shigeru Miyamoto's Super Mario Bros. (1985), and crowns each Beatle with a Sanrio Hello Kitty bow. Five distinct cultural eras — Renaissance painting, post-Impressionism, late-1960s rock, 1980s console gaming, and Japanese kawaii — collapsed into a single crosswalk.

The "DEATH IS FREE" tag in the lower-left ties the piece back to Death NYC's recurring thesis: every iconic image eventually becomes free-to-remix raw material once it crosses the threshold of cultural saturation. A flagship Death NYC composition for collectors who already have a Murakami flower print, a Banksy reproduction, or a Mario figurine on the shelf — and who want a single sheet that argues with all of them at once.

About the Artist

Death NYC is an anonymous New York-based street and pop artist who has been releasing limited edition signed prints since the early 2010s. The work is defined by aggressive appropriation — fine art, music, anime, video games, streetwear, and luxury houses — recombined into single high-density compositions.

Death NYC editions are pencil-signed and hand-numbered, typically in editions of 20, 45, or 100. Smaller-edition releases command the strongest secondary market. Death NYC works have been collected and resold across major secondary markets including Heritage Auctions, Artsy, and 1stDibs.
