Summary

Space File (Red) is a 2007 screen print issued through Space Shop in an edition of 30 at 100 x 70 cm. The largest-format and tightest-edition print in this group, it presents Invader's coded, file-like arrangement of his pixel motifs in a red colorway, emphasizing the archival, catalog-like way the artist organizes his invasions.

Why It Matters

The "Space File" concept nods to how Invader documents and indexes his invasions like a systematic database, treating the street campaign as an ongoing archive. The large 100 x 70 cm scale gives the print real presence, and the small edition of 30 makes it the scarcest release in this selection, heightening its appeal to focused collectors.

Collector Perspective

An edition of just 30 places Space File (Red) among the more limited Invader screen prints here, and the sizable 100 x 70 cm format demands proper framing and wall space. The red colorway is a specific variant to confirm. Space Shop provenance keeps it within the artist's channel. Verify edition number and dimensions before purchase.

Historical Context

Released in 2007 through Space Shop, the Space File works reflect Invader's methodical, archival approach to his global project, where each invasion is logged and mapped. The self-published print continues the artist's practice of controlling his own editions during the productive mid-to-late 2000s.

About the Artist

Invader (born 1969, France) is a pseudonymous French urban artist known for installing mosaic works inspired by 1970s-80s arcade video games, most famously the aliens from Space Invaders. Since the late 1990s he has "invaded" cities worldwide, cementing tile mosaics onto walls and mapping each installation as part of a global game. His studio output extends the pixel aesthetic into prints, "Rubikcubism" works made from Rubik's Cubes, aluminum pieces, and alias-signed editions. He remains anonymous, appearing publicly only masked.

Collecting Invader at Gauntlet Gallery

What Invader works can I collect?

Beyond street mosaics, Invader releases signed, numbered editions — screenprints, giclées, aluminum and Rubikcubism works — plus his "Invasion Kits." Signed and numbered studio editions are the collectible core. Gauntlet Gallery focuses on complete, well-preserved impressions with documentation.

How is an Invader piece authenticated?

We sell Invader works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details, so you can verify before buying.

What drives value?

Medium (unique Rubikcubism and aluminum works over open prints), edition size, iconic imagery, condition, and provenance all shape price. Hand-made and low-numbered pieces command the strongest premiums.
