Summary

Invasion (Silver), 2009, is a Pictures On Walls screen print in an edition of 50, measuring 29.5 x 42 cm. It combines one color of screen printing with two-color foil work and an embossed design on 310gsm paper, producing a reflective, textured surface.

Why It Matters

Like Invader's other POW editions, this print reaches for the material qualities of his street mosaics through embossing and metallic foil rather than flat ink alone. The silver foil lends the invaders a hard, tile-like sheen, translating the tactile presence of a wall installation into a work on paper.

Collector Perspective

Signed and numbered in an edition of 50, this is a well-documented POW release with the technical finish, foil plus emboss, that collectors associate with the artist's paper works. The reflective surface is condition-sensitive, so clean, unmarked impressions are preferred. Its 29.5 x 42 cm scale suits intimate framing.

Historical Context

Pictures On Walls was a leading publisher of urban-art editions in the 2000s and worked repeatedly with Invader. Invasion (Silver) exemplifies the house's approach of enriching a screen print with foils and embossing, methods that gave collectors a paper analogue to the artist's ceramic street works.

About the Artist

Invader (born 1969, France) is a pseudonymous French urban artist known for installing mosaic works inspired by 1970s-80s arcade video games, most famously the aliens from Space Invaders. Since the late 1990s he has "invaded" cities worldwide, cementing tile mosaics onto walls and mapping each installation as part of a global game. His studio output extends the pixel aesthetic into prints, "Rubikcubism" works made from Rubik's Cubes, aluminum pieces, and alias-signed editions. He remains anonymous, appearing publicly only masked.

How is an Invader piece authenticated?

We sell Invader works with documented provenance and the edition's signature and numbering. Each piece is photographed exactly as it ships, including signature and edition details, so you can verify before buying.

What drives value?

Medium (unique Rubikcubism and aluminum works over open prints), edition size, iconic imagery, condition, and provenance all shape price. Hand-made and low-numbered pieces command the strongest premiums.
