"A Time For Greatness" — JFK x Harmless Kitty Pop Art Print
Signed & Numbered Limited Edition · Acrylic Magnetic Display Frame
Edition of 20 · Mixed-Media Collage Print · Contemporary Street Art
What You Are Getting
A striking signed and numbered limited edition pop art print measuring approximately 11" × 14", combining a historical photograph of John F. Kennedy at the 1960 Democratic National Convention — where he accepted the presidential nomination under his iconic "A Time For Greatness" slogan — with a hand-drawn Nara-style "harmless kitty" character holding a fishing line.
The image treatment is classic contemporary street-art mashup: the JFK convention photo is rendered in a two-tone blue and pink halftone with Delaware, Washington, Texas, and Indiana state delegation signs surrounding Kennedy at the podium, while the cartoon girl in her red dress stands in the foreground fishing a small fish from the campaign chaos below. The composition plays with the tension between political gravitas and ironic whimsy — a hallmark of the Death NYC / Nara-derivative pop art genre.
The print is hand-signed in graphite in the lower left margin, dated 2024, and hand-numbered in pencil in the lower right margin as part of a limited edition of 20 — an unusually small edition size that makes this one of the scarcer examples in the genre. Housed in a premium magnetic clear-acrylic display frame, ready for desk, shelf, or wall presentation.

About the Work
The Historical Source. The background imagery references John F. Kennedy's acceptance of the 1960 Democratic presidential nomination at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on July 15, 1960. Under the campaign slogan "A Time For Greatness", JFK delivered his famous "New Frontier" speech, calling on Americans to look beyond the stability of the 1950s toward a new era of challenges in civil rights, space exploration, and global democracy. The photograph used as the source image captures Kennedy at the podium surrounded by delegation banners from Delaware, Washington, Texas, Indiana, and other states.
The Pop Culture Remix. The character in the foreground — a wide-eyed girl in a red dress with a ponytail, holding a fishing line — is rendered in the unmistakable style of Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, whose "harmless kitty" and childlike figures have become one of the most widely-referenced visual vocabularies in contemporary pop art. The character's presence in the midst of the 1960 political scrum transforms the piece from a historical document into a wry commentary on political theater — the fish dangling from her line subtly echoing Kennedy's famous maritime background as a PT-109 Naval officer.
This piece sits squarely in the Death NYC / Plasticgod / Mr. Brainwash genre of pop-culture collage — street-art-adjacent contemporary editions that combine historical imagery with appropriated cartoon characters. The small edition of 20 is well below the typical 100-piece street-art run, making this a scarcer example.
Attribution Note
This print is hand-signed and hand-numbered by the artist (signature in graphite, lower left). The visual style — JFK press photograph in blue/pink halftone combined with a Nara-inspired "harmless kitty" character — is consistent with the Death NYC and Death NYC–adjacent contemporary street-art genre that produced similar mashup editions in 2023–2024.
Buyer should perform their own attribution verification based on the signature and style. Gauntlet Gallery provides the print as a signed, numbered edition of 20 in the contemporary pop-art collage genre, with full honest disclosure of these facts. Priced accordingly.
