Fractured Frequency (First Edition)
Summary
Fractured Frequency is a 2026 letterpress print hand-finished with acrylic dots on 250gsm Somerset Satin White cotton, sized 42 x 29.7 cm. Limited to 12 signed, numbered, and emboss-stamped impressions, it applies Kai & Sunny's Frequency motif to a broken, disrupted composition where the wave language reads as splintered rather than continuous.
Why It Matters
The "fractured" title signals a deliberate rupture of the pattern the series otherwise celebrates—an editorial gesture within the group. Combining letterpress debossing with hand-applied acrylic dots produces variation across the run, so each of the 12 sheets records a slightly different studio touch.
Collector Perspective
At 12 impressions this is a very scarce, hand-finished work; the raised acrylic and pressed letterpress surface both bear on condition. It reads as a companion to Falling Frequency, and collectors pursuing the Frequency set will want both letterpress states plus the silkscreen Passing Frequency. Signature, number, and emboss confirm studio issue.
Historical Context
Part of the 2026 Frequency series, Fractured Frequency extends the London duo's decade-long study of natural pattern and rhythm—themes rooted in their earlier environmental print and book work. Choosing letterpress over screen print for the fractured variant ties the disruptive image to an older, more physical printing process.

They are known for intricate, hand-drawn line work exploring nature, patterns, and the forces of the natural world, often rendered as flowing, wind-swept compositions. Their editions are published in tightly controlled runs and have been exhibited internationally.
Collecting Kai & Sunny at Gauntlet Gallery
What Kai & Sunny works should I collect?
Their signed, numbered silkscreen editions, often featuring metallic inks, blind embossing, and hand-finished detail, are the heart of the market. Foil and layered prints in small runs are especially collectible. Gauntlet Gallery selects pieces in pristine condition with crisp embossing and complete signing.
How is authenticity handled?
Kai & Sunny editions are offered with documented studio provenance and the duo's signature and numbering. We photograph the specific piece you will receive, including signature, edition number, and any embossing, so every detail is verifiable before you buy.
What drives value?
Small edition sizes, special finishes (foil, embossing, hand-work), condition, and provenance from a documented release drive value. Sold-out, low-numbered, and specially finished editions command the strongest premiums.
