About the Work
Snoopy and Woodstock are arguably the most-licensed comic strip duo in publishing history — Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts ran from 1950 to 2000 and remains in active syndication today. Snoopy in particular has a real connection to the lunar surface: NASA's Apollo 10 lunar module was nicknamed "Snoopy" in 1969, the May 1969 dress rehearsal mission for Apollo 11, and Snoopy has served as NASA's official safety mascot since the late 1960s. Death NYC plays directly with that history here, dropping Snoopy and Woodstock onto the moon and replacing the night sky with a Louis Vuitton multicolore monogram designed by Takashi Murakami in 2003 for Marc Jacobs.
The result is a piece that compresses 60+ years of comic strip licensing, the entire mythology of the Apollo program, and one of the defining luxury-art collaborations of the 21st century into a single quiet image — a beagle, a yellow bird, a bouquet, and a sky full of designer logos. How is the print packed and shipped?
Prints ship flat between two acid-free rigid boards inside a corrugated outer mailer with rigid corner protection. Larger prints over 24×30 may ship rolled inside a thick-walled tube with archival tissue. All shipments are insured for full value with tracked carrier service. Framed pieces ship in custom-cut wood crates with foam edge protection. Signature on delivery required over $500.
What documentation is included?
Original COAs, publisher certificates, third-party authentication letters, and Gauntlet Gallery condition reports ship with the artwork.
