Death NYC “Flying Ace” • Signed Limited Edition Snoopy × Lichtenstein × Louis Vuitton × WWII Aviation
Signed & Dated 2022 • Giclée on Fine Art Paper • Edition of 100 + AP Hand-Signed • COA Card & Gold Seal Custom Framed by Gauntlet Gallery • Black Frame • White Matting
What You Are Getting
This is an authentic Death NYC signed limited edition print titled “Flying Ace” — a four-way pop art collision of Snoopy as the Flying Ace, Roy Lichtenstein’s visual language, the Louis Vuitton monogram, and WWII military aviation. The composition places Snoopy in his iconic aviator persona — leather flight helmet, goggles, red scarf streaming behind him — riding atop a WWII-era fighter plane completely wrapped in the Louis Vuitton monogram pattern. The entire scene is rendered in Lichtenstein’s signature Ben-Day dot technique, with radiating yellow sunburst beams, pink and blue halftone skies, and bold black-outlined clouds and ocean waves below.
The print is hand-signed and dated 2022 by Death NYC in pencil (lower left), with the edition number in pencil (lower right), and is accompanied by the Death NYC Certificate of Authenticity card and gold seal sticker. It has been professionally custom framed by Gauntlet Gallery (San Francisco) in a clean black frame with white matting — a gallery-standard presentation that lets the bold yellows, reds, and blue halftone dots in the composition do all the talking. Ready to hang immediately.

About the Work
“Flying Ace” is Death NYC working with four distinct cultural vocabularies at once — and making them speak as one. The composition begins with Snoopy as the World War I Flying Ace, one of Charles Schulz’s most enduring creations: the beagle in leather flight helmet and goggles, red scarf whipping behind him, fists clenched in determined combat against the Red Baron. But instead of perching atop his doghouse (Schulz’s original gag), Snoopy is piloting an actual WWII-era fighter plane — complete with “F2” fuselage markings, military stars, and a tail number — that has been entirely wrapped in the Louis Vuitton monogram pattern, the LV logos and quatrefoil flowers rendered in dark brown against the red-orange fuselage.
The background is pure Roy Lichtenstein — radiating yellow sunburst beams cut through a sky made entirely of Ben-Day dots in pink, blue, and red, with bold black-outlined clouds and stylized ocean waves filling the lower register. The Ben-Day dot technique (the halftone printing pattern Lichtenstein appropriated from comic books) is rendered with visible individual dots that shift between blue and red depending on the section — exactly the kind of mechanical reproduction texture Lichtenstein used to comment on mass media and commercial art. Death NYC applies it here as both homage and additional layer of irony: the background itself is a reproduction of a technique that was already about reproduction.
The result is a composition where every element critiques and elevates every other element. Snoopy — a cartoon dog imagining himself as a WWI flying ace — is actually flying a WWII plane (wrong war, but who’s counting). The military aircraft is skinned in luxury fashion branding, turning a machine of war into a fashion accessory. Lichtenstein’s pop art dots — originally borrowed from commercial printing — frame the whole scene as if it were a panel from the most expensive comic book ever printed. And the Louis Vuitton monogram, designed in 1896 to prevent counterfeiting, here covers a plane that itself is a kind of counterfeit (a WWII plane piloted by a WWI fantasy character). It’s playful, it’s visually explosive, and if you want to unpack the layers, they go deeper than they have any right to.
The Lichtenstein connection runs deep: Roy Lichtenstein himself painted several fighter plane compositions in the 1960s, most famously Whaam! (1963) — one of the defining images of the Pop Art movement. That painting showed a fighter jet firing a missile rendered in Ben-Day dots, appropriated directly from a comic book panel. Death NYC’s composition is a remix of a remix: Lichtenstein took military imagery from comics; Death NYC takes Lichtenstein’s visual language and drops Snoopy’s Flying Ace fantasy into it. The Louis Vuitton overlay adds a third layer — luxury branding over military hardware over pop art over comic strip — creating a chain of appropriation that Lichtenstein himself would have appreciated.

Quick authentication: Check the pencil signature at lower left under raking light — you should see the graphite reflecting differently from the paper surface and feel a slight indentation where the pencil pressed into the 300 gsm stock. The close-up photographs clearly show the natural pencil line variation and the texture of the heavy paper.
About Death NYC
Death NYC is a New York-based pop and street artist whose pseudonym stands for “Don’t Easily Abandon The Hope.” Raised in New York’s diverse cultural landscape, Death NYC began creating work in the streets of Soho and Chelsea before transitioning to limited edition prints that have become highly sought-after by collectors worldwide.
The artist’s practice centers on cultural remixing — sampling, collaging, and recontextualizing icons from art history, pop culture, luxury branding, and street art into compositions that are simultaneously irreverent and visually sophisticated. Recurring subjects include works by Van Gogh, Hokusai, Lichtenstein, Warhol, and Basquiat, collided with cartoon characters, brand logos, and contemporary cultural references.
Prints are issued in limited editions of 100 plus a small number of artist’s proofs, printed on 300 gsm fine art paper, hand-signed and dated, and accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity card and gold seal. The work has been sold through galleries and platforms including 1stDibs, Artsy, Artsper, and eBay, with secondary market prices rising as the artist’s collector base expands internationally.
Why This Piece Works on a Wall
This is one of the most visually dynamic compositions in the Death NYC catalog. The bright yellow sunburst radiating behind the plane creates immediate visual impact from across a room — it grabs attention the way a comic book cover is designed to. The Lichtenstein-style Ben-Day dots give the entire image a pop art authority that elevates it beyond novelty. And Snoopy — one of the most universally beloved characters ever created — gives the piece an instant emotional accessibility that makes it work in virtually any space.
For Snoopy and Peanuts collectors, the Flying Ace is arguably the most iconic Snoopy persona, and seeing him actually piloting a real fighter plane (instead of his doghouse) is a satisfying upgrade. For pop art enthusiasts, the Lichtenstein visual vocabulary is executed with genuine care — the Ben-Day dots are visible and textured, not just suggested. For aviation and military history fans, the WWII fighter with “F2” markings and military stars adds a layer of historical specificity. For fashion-conscious buyers, the Louis Vuitton monogram covering the aircraft is a witty luxury-meets-war statement. And the black frame with white mat gives it a clean, gallery-ready presentation that works in an office, den, living room, or kid’s room. This is a piece that makes people smile first and think second — the best combination.

SHEPARD FAIREY
Few contemporary artists have bridged underground culture and institutional recognition as effectively as Shepard Fairey. Emerging from skate and punk subcultures with the original Obey Giant campaign, he built a visual language rooted in propaganda aesthetics, bold iconography, and political commentary.
What makes Fairey compelling for collectors isn’t just name recognition — it’s durability. His work sits at the intersection of activism, design, and pop culture.
From the globally recognized Hope poster to decades of tightly controlled screenprint editions, he has demonstrated both cultural relevance and disciplined market structure.
Institutional validation from MoMA, the Smithsonian, and the V&A reinforces long-term credibility. Meanwhile, secondary market data shows consistent liquidity and steady appreciation across core prints.
For collectors, this is cultural equity with infrastructure behind it — not trend-driven volatility.
